Hi, I'm JESSE!

JESSE - Mexican American Boy
My name is Jesse. I am an Hispanic American boy. According
to the latest United States Census Report, there are more
than 35 million Hispanics or Latinos in the United States.

Hispanic means 'of Spanish descent.' My grandparents came
to the United States from Mexico. Many of my family
members still speak Spanish. I can speak Spanish too, but I usually speak English to my friends at school.

My favorite activity is playing ball. I like soccer and baseball
the most. I also like to be with my cousins on holidays. If we
are having a celebration, someone will bring a piñata for us
to hit and get the prizes. My father says that a piñata is a tradition of the Mexican family. I'm glad! It is great fun to
have a blindfold on my eyes and to try to hit the piñata with a stick until the candy falls out. I am very strong and usually
am the one that hits it hard enough for it to break open for
all the younger kids to get the candy.

My favorite subject in school is math. I plan to go to college
and learn about countries all around the world. Then, I'll
travel and see them all.
